The reasoning that He gives is that since you're going to failure 3 times on during a rest-pause set if you don't have a spotter there's a good chance you'll end up stuck under the bar. He also doesn't like flat bench for chest at all but I believe his reasoning for that one was He said it was bad for your shoulders. So realistically I think the only drawback is if you don't have a competent training partner to spot you on the lifts you might get stuck under.
