But seeing the scale drop (or hoping to) can give you steely resolve through all kinds of cravings and hunger...
Ha, that's my YMCA exactly. It's old and routinely has mysterious wet patches on the carpet in the hallways (dripping pipes?). One day I'm pretty sure there was a group of prison inmates and/or parolees doing fitness testing at the track. And just the other week, this guy flew off the Cable Row machine when he tried to max out the weight and the pulley broke! (Who can row 300lbs? Honestly.)
But I love it because it's totally unpretentious and not at all a meat market. (And I'm keeping an eye on that pulley...)
I want to see your photos! They'll be a great inspiration to all of us. And I'll put mine up if you put yours up - how about that? You don't have to go it alone.

LOL-I guess every Y owns that 25 year-old gym sock smell! I've seen some messed up shit at my Y too, particularly some of the "fashion" choices worn by some of the dudes that hang out there!

I do love the fact that it is not at all the meat market atmosphere-my old gym was a lot newer, nicer and a damn sight better-smelling, but it's delightful to be able to work out without having to witness all the pathetic come-ons.
I'm putting the photos up, and thanks for saying they'll be inspirational, I'm just not feeling it this month, you know?

No, and I can't say I'm familiar with the specifics. More explanation would be absolutely appreciated!

I love your description of the Y and LOL about the guy that flew backwards when the cable broke. I am sure he didn't think it was funny though. Between you guys and all the Y stories I am going to have to find one to visit in my area.

Thanks Karla, I was starting to think I was going crazy and all my friends just think I'm falling off the fitness bandwagon! As mentioned in prior posts, ever since returning from vacation I have been dealing with this hunger issue. The 7 days prior to leaving, I had gone on a semi-strict cutting of carbs and basically ate egg whites, yogurt, and maybe a piece of citrus fruit for breakfast, and then either chicken, turkey, or salmon for lunches and dinners with low-carb veggies. The yogurt had some carbs, as did the fruit and veggies, so basically I just cut out my whole grains--but only for one week! I can't imagine that would have thrown my chemistry off, and it's not as if I had a big bounce-back effect the week I was gone or since returning. I'm up 2.5 lbs. and hovering right at that 149-150 mark (I'm 5'8.5"). I'm okay with my weight, although I'd be thrilled with a solid 142-145 hold, it's just this whole feeling of being hungry! When I do eat, I feel like I could eat forever and ever, I'm just not getting that sensation of fullness and it's playing with my mind--big time.
Sorry to be whining on and on about this, it just really sucks to have gone from that place where I felt so in control of my body and all of its functions to now feeling like this.

HELP!!
