Most of the time I was learning with the help of a great trainer who had not taught the olympic lifts before. I've been training with a "real" coach for a whopping 2 weeks.

Are you sure there's nobody in your area?
It's always dangerous making such jokes with those we don't know well, but sometimes I just can't help myself. Sorry if that was a bit bold.

Another member here -- Hunter -- who actually lives where I do has done some searching. He found someone who he was going to check out further because the guy felt he could be helpful. But, he's a trainer, not an oly coach per se. I could head to the Twin Cities (150 miles) and meet up with a coach every now and then; a coach down there offered to do so. But I travel enough for martial arts; I'm reluctant to travel more. I just figure it could be a fun way to train that would also have good martial arts benefit carry over.

From what I can tell, my combination of flexibility and stability is pretty good. When Bill Hartman ran everyone through an assessment at the summit a couple of years ago, I tied for high score. But, I'm sure some glaring weak link or two in those areas in regards to the oly lifts would come out under a trained eye. But, I've got a good start, aside from being weaker than a girl (maybe literally in your case!) I seriously might just have to work on basic strength more.

What was your base of work before the oly focus? What did the previous person help you work on and identify for attention? And what has your current coach focused on? What have you found most challenging? Your lifts looks pretty darn good. You surely had a good base/head start.

Well, in any case, this isn't about me. I'm just admiring of you. At least I can live vicariously though you. LOL

I know how I feel about my older, women tkd students who start and progress over months and years. I'm very admiring and proud of them. So, I guess that's why I'm excited for you! BTW, my top two color belt lady students are about your age. And I'm even older!
