You don't use it you lose it.
Take your time work on your flexibility the strength will come back in time. The worst thing you can do is try to rush it and re-injure your back. As John said it may be a bit of a mental block but take your prior injury into account. Sometimes it takes a little while to be back to your regular lifts when it comes down to injuries.
