Mon - that video definitely makes me not want to do those. That just looks unnatural. I'm picturing myself under a loaded bar at the bottom and my arms going back just like that guy's. That would not be pretty.

I agree that you've got to get away from a powerlifting style squat. Think of O-lifters and their style when you're doing OH squats. This is an assistance exercise for the snatch, so that's the only style squat that's going to work. OH squats are tough! Keep working on them!
I can see your point Lisa. I watched some videos at PN and could see the difference pretty clearly. They're tough, but it'll be fun when I can do more than just the bar!

well, it depends on how long your arms are. If you're short, and have short arms, you won't need to go out to the collars. I'm 6'3" and have around 6' wingspan, so i need to go out to the collars. This feels better for me, because i can press against the sides of the collars for more balance.
I'm about the same size as you, Alco, but going all the way out to the collars feels like a stretch. Yesterday I did some hang snatches and my hands were probably about 4" from the collars. I unloaded the bar and did some OH squats after, and I could get my hands a little further out. It was easier to keep my elbows locked out (or nearly locked out, anyway). I'll try to spread my hands a little further next time. I also need to get some bands.

Thanks for all the great advice, folks. Good stuff as always!
