Yes, you are.

The "bottom half" of your deadlift should be a primary function of your knees, and the "top half" of your deadlift should be a primary function of your hips. (My bf told me, at the top of my deadlift, to "hump the bar!" I think he got that from Starting Strength.)

Does the knee/hip thing make sense?
