I think the working out part of your question is pretty much answered. As far as eating goes, with the popularity of fad diets, it seems that restaurants are getting more and more used to special orders. A number even offer things as low carb, or whatever. Don't be afraid to special order something. Ask how things are cooked. If something is fried, ask to have it grilled or broiled instead. Get sauces on the side. And, most importantly, remember that portion sizes in restaurants are off the charts! If you're staying in a hotel with a refridgerator and microwave, take at least half of you dinner back to the hotel with you and eat it as a snack, lunch, or even dinner the next night. You're saving money that way too!
