I got the ball rolling on Sheridan Tech's first powerlifting club.
Talked to a guy who was lifting today, he said he'd be interested and he'll talk to a friend who's also a pretty serious lifter. The guy squats/pulls two plates ish, but he benches more than me. He doesn't look like your typical newbie, so that's good.
Also spoke to the athletics manager, he said I'd need to go to the Student Union and talk to them about it, since they deal with clubs. But he said he wouldn't have a problem with me putting up flyers and stuff around the gym area. So that's good.
If I can get enough interest, and then if I can get this to be an official club at the school, first of all I'll rule for starting a bad ass club, but also we may a)get some funding, which would kick major ass, and b)get a time slot in the good weightroom. Meaning olympic platforms, bumper plates, bars that aren't smooth, benches that aren't too flat/hard or thick/soft, and a GLUTE HAM RAISE which I just saw was put in the other day, as well as dumbbells that go past 80, and a squat rack that isn't warped and doesn't feel like it's going to tip over.
Kick ass.
