Steve - I'm just going to comment on what you wrote since that's all I know of what happened. You have a friend who's instinct was to hold you back because you might have been getting rowdy.

I'm one of those who has never been hit, never been in a fight, never been with someone who got in a fight - but I would have thought that punching a kid in the face until your hand goes numb from which he then has to "get up" to start running away would have been hitting a man when he was down. And then pursuing him after he got up and ran away would be piling on when it was unnecessary to keep going.
but as I said, I don't know you and I wasn't there - I'm just saying based on what I read it seemed over the top.
