If you have a climbing gym nearby, that's a great place to start. Otherwise, a lot of kayakers also climb, so ask around. If all else fails, buy a crashpad, some shoes, and a route book, and while you're at the outfitter, ask questions. Then go out and start bouldering (but not above head height for now.)
