Alcoholiday helped me find out more about Trueprotein -- here are my takeaways:

The flavor sample packs only include Whey Protein Isolate (Cold Filtration) and the flavor packet. That's it. No carbohydrate additions or sweeteners. If you want to recreate the sample flavors, only order WPI (Cold Filtration) and the flavor.

I wanted to make PWO shakes with my order, so I did a custom mix with this:

-- Whey Protein Isolate (10%)
-- Whey Protein Concentrate (30%)
-- Maltodextrin (25%)
-- Dextrose (25%)
-- Glutamine peptides (5%)
-- BCAAs (5%)
-- No additional sweetener

This made each scoop equal to 15g protein / 15 g carbs. And I'll be honest and say it tastes totally disgusting. I ordered both Orange Creamsicle and Strawberry-Banana, and both were delicious in the sample packets. But when I changed the protein from WPI to WPC, added malto and dextrose, and added glutamine and BCAAs, it was just way too much blandness and bitterness that the flavoring couldn't rescue.

Lessons learned!

1) For protein, use WPI (Cold Filtration). It dissolves better and tastes better than Whey Protein Concentrate.
2) If you want to add carbs, stick to dextrose. It dissolves better and tastes much better than maltodextrin.
3) Don't add other stuff (glutamine, BCAAs) to the mix. If you want to add it at home, fine. But if you add it to your pre-mixed order and don't like it, you're screwed.
