I lean more towards strength and conditioning, but
EliteFTS - Powerlifting and Strength Training Products and Knowledge for Lifters, Athletes, Coaches, and Trainers has a ton of great articles that you can learn a lot from. Just figure out how to apply some of the ideas to your clients.
Take a look through your textbooks and these forums. Compile an research list of 10-20 topics that you'd like to find out more about. From there start looking at google, pubmed, trade journals, etc for information. It'll spiderweb out from there. Before you know it you'll have WAY too much information and need to figure out how to seperate the wheat from the chaff.
