Well, considering you 1) just joined a gym, 2) are doing squats, deadlifts and other compound movements, and 3) you're female - that's going to get some attention. Still, good on you for getting your workout in, despite all that. Was the client female? If so, more than likely the trainer was pointing out what was possible.
