Yes, I clearly remember MJ getting an extra half-step on drives to the hoop. I COULD be wrong, but I feel that was more during the last 3 championships, not so much the first 3.
Also, just remember that I'm not trying to necessarily
prove anything. People tend to judge on final results, and the details are lost in time. Given that, his Super Bowl appearances and this year's records will erase any memories of favoritism, even some horrifically blatant Super Bowl 'events' (more on that some other time).
Compare Brady's career stats to Matt Hasselbeck's. Year by year. They're amazingly similar. Give Hasselbeck Bellichick and the Pats D during those same years, and I wonder if Hasselbeck isn't the one getting the praise. (Probably not, because he's not as good-looking as Brady, but who knows?) Now give Hasselbeck Moss, Welker and Stallworth. Maybe not 50 TDs, but I bet he throws 35-40!
Anyway, the hate is sort of another thing. I can't give a definitive list of why I love my mother, and hate is just another largely abstract emotion. I've explained where the dislike originated, and the whole thing with my ex-gf sends it over the roof.
It just is what it is. #1 I really do feel he's overrated. Really damn good, but not the all-time great he's made out to be. #2 - I hate what the guy represents - favoritism, smugness, how to take all the credit when you don't deserve it - and of course for beating my Steelers a few times.
How humble is the guy who has more glamour shots than the rest of the league combined? Underwear ads, commercials for suits, the pretty facial shots - seemingly aimed toward the gay community and young girls. How humble is he really? Saying "thanks coach" doesn't undo any of that.
Ok, done for now.
