You have a very solid set of goals! That's a great place to start. And kudos on the stopping smoking. What's the point of working out and getting healthy if your are still poisoning your lungs?
On the food journaling, I have found
FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal to be an absolutley invaluable resource. After you get most of your everyday foods put in, it takes only a few minutes to do, and since it is web based, you can enter whereever there's a computer. I also use it to plan my food out for the day.
