I felt tension in my tricep up to my elbow on my left arm before. The foam roller got rid of it though. When I did have the tension, it did not affect me from lifting or catching the softball. I throw right handed and catch the ball with my left hand. I also never had any problems with my throwing arm. I also foam roll the triceps quite a bit to make sure a knott does not start to build up and if it does, the foam roller gets rid of it. I never started foam rolling until I felt something building up in my left. It took me a few foam rolling days and times to get rid of the tension by the way. It really does hurt when its your first time rolling a spot (never roll on joints or your elbow). When I rolled for my first time on my left tricep, it was tight and I felt tension for a while even if I wasn't rolling. Then it went away. The same is happening with my right hip (TFL and glute medius) now. I am working on rolling the heck out of it now.

If you do not own a foam roller, you could use just about anything. A softball, tennis ball, or even a bat (the thick side).
