Why are you running?
As for the knees I'll second (third) the advice you've been given
- Get a great pair of shoes
- Stretch, both actively and passively, to make sure you achieve an optimal ROM.
I'll also add that you should keep your running volume low and build it up slowly. Too much, too soon is a classic combination that ends in injury. You need to allow for you joints and muscles to adapt to the pounding.
