Well, Splenda has about 13% the calories of sugar, so right there it's valuable. It's also been tested over several months on type-2 diabetics with no harmful effects, so I doubt that it's messing much with a normal person's blood sugar. (This info can be found in J.Hale's 'Knowledge & Nonesense', if you're curious.)
