The fact that exercise would help reduce the risk factors for heart disease would cross over but as with any study you can't say that the exact same thing would happen for another population group (in this case males) as thats not what the study looked at.

Women do have different enzyme activity and hormonal profiles, and (to the best of my knowledge) its not known why women have a reduced risk of heart disease compared to men. Is it one of these factors? Could make millions of researching that.
