Viking, they made very valid suggestions... They weren't just covering their asses with generic answers. You have what sounds like something that could affect your long term use of your hand. If you want simply dismiss the advice of a physical therapist and a doctor since they didn't tell you what you wanted to hear, then - sorry to say - you can't complain when things get worse.
Also, you're obviously so macho that you didn't realize Julie was using the term "trauma" in a medical sense, not a mental sense. Don't worry, no one is threatening your manliness by suggesting that fights are traumatic. You're tough. We get it. Julie is talking about acute injuries that traumitize tissue.
My advice? Spongey knuckles are no excuse to be a pussy. I think you should get a thick, unsanded block of wood and punch it at least 100 times with your injured hand. That will toughen you up a little, and maybe you won't feel the need to whine on message boards about little "owies."
