I just agree with Julie here. If you already knew the answer to your question, then why bother asking it? Technically, you don't even know whether the injured structure is bone, tendon, cartilage or soft-tissue. You don't even know whether your injury is in the knuckle, as there are other injuries that can cause a knuckle to feel "spongy". You've asked the question, "I have a symptom, how can I make it go away faster?" and I don't think you can get a proper answer to that until you know what's actually wrong.

Alternatively, you could just run the risk of having impaired hand function later.
