Josh - all I can say is that there are a few really good threads on here about getting going into triathlon. Read up.

Australian's are in a league of their own in triathlon. The best of the best come from Oz and NZ, and that trickles down to the age group level. I got absolutely demolished in my race there, but I still had a blast. Just make sure you go out there to have some fun, don't get hung up on your placing.

Also, I think one of the first purchases I had to make was a wetsuit, since the water here is chilly. But you'll not have to worry about that at all, since all water there is really warm. So you could use that money and apply it to a bike. Make sure you get fit well for a bike, and you'll be in good shape man.

Go have some fun, and enjoy the journey!
