Default My shoulder hurts when....

I raise my arm behind me, like when I try to pull my pants up. When the elbow is behind the plane of my body and I'm trying to pull up, it just gives out. It shoots pain down my left arm, down the rear delt and triceps.

It literally hurts so bad that I think perhaps something has been torn. I don't know that something has, but it sure feels like it. It doesn't hurt when I do rowing motions in a horizontal plane though.

Any idea what is wrong, oh rehab experts? [ahem.... uh, BILL?]
