It all depends on your definition. You can say a static lunge means you don't move, it is static, up and down and don't move. I have read that some people call a regular lunge a static lunge. To me, a static is just up and down like a split squat. If it was a forward or reverse lunge then you move forward or backwards and if you walk with it, a walking lunge.
