I have mono
I've been sick with a bad sore throat for about the last week, found out yesterday that it's mono. I'm trying to choke down all the milk shakes, cereal, applesauce, and soup I can, but I'm already down to 185lbs. Can't lift for at least 4 weeks, and then shortly after that I get married and have a honeymoon, so training will be sparatic for the next couple months. But rest assured, this fall and winter will not be play time in the gym. I've been hovering around 200 for too long. The gym and the buffett will be my best friends, and I'm not stopping until I hit a solid 220.
I'm also thinking about making this a little experiment as well, not using a single supplement, not even a post-workout drink. The more I really think about it and listen to guys I respect, the more I think that supplements are a bunch of unnecessary crap. I've never heard a real world, big strong dude who gains nothing from sales say how great 'supplement x' is, they tell you how great the chinese buffett down the street is. Can a big load of processed sugars really be better than oats and a banana? Do you need a super high insulin spike after training when you've been eating all day? So, no processed post-workout drinks, no protein powders, no BCAA's, no ZMA, not even creatine. I'll keep taking fish oil and glucosamine though, I'm talking about 'performance enhancing' supplements. The training will be simple and so will the diet.
