I'm bringing this thread on the kick to life because my swimming technique is "evolving".
One of the main things I really have concentrated on has been "stretching out" my body in the water. Making myself longer in the water and really reaching ahead. It's not made me much faster but I swim more effortlessly than before. I have NOT concentrated on my kick much at all. Interestingly enough..my kick has evolved as a result of just concentrating on lengthening my body in the water. I mean, a flutter kick is actually easier to do than anything else when all stretched out..
But that said..I really don't kick much at all. I float like a flippin cork in the water. I've heard people say how they sink like a rock..well..I'm the opposite and I find myself just pulling myself through the water quite a lot without kicking at all. Is that unusual? When I do make an effort to incorporate a kick it actually slows me down.
I guess I just need to whip out a kick board or something..and get it right. Comments? Thoughts?
