Default Cactus Challenge Triathlon...DONE!!!

500m swim ??? / 13 mile bike / 5k run

Total Time: 1:45:39
I was hoping to come here with great news about how terrific I did yesterday despite injury and very little training. But, the truth is that the results I've seen posted seem so fucked up that I'm kinda pissed right now.

First of all, my thinking was that it was very possible that I beat my time in this tri from last year DESPITE the lack of training. However, the results say I finished 8 minutes slower. (My watch wasn't working...my buddy also didn't time his splits accurately)

Swim: sure as hell felt like more than 500m and I'm not the only person who thought so. My swim time was almost 9 minutes longer than last year. Now, I know that I'm slow, but not THAT slow! Also, I noticed that the swimmer who finished 9th out of 325 competitors took over 12 minutes to swim 500m. WTF? Does that seem wacko to anyone else? My buddy has no swim split or transition time posted at all. There is a 'total' time posted in his swim column but it is greater than my total swim time and he finished the swim ahead of me and was already in transition when I got there!?

Bike: First time in a tri with my new bike and it felt real good. My buddy, who finished right behind me, commented how he thought I was really kicking butt. According to the results, I bested last year's time by about 2 minutes. Was it actually more...or less?

Run: Despite some calf cramps and leg pain throughout the run (and I had to take a piss the entire time), I felt I did better on the run than last year. Maybe the two short stops to stretch out my calves was the difference. My buddy and I sprinted to the finish together - I won. Results showed a 20 second increase over last year's run.

Hey, I'm glad I did a triathlon, but don't think I'll do this event again (there were other problems last year). And I have a lot of work to do to improve in all areas. There's no doubt about that.

I'm gonna check back with the results to see if any updates are made. My guess is there are a lot of people questioning these results.
So I've got one under my belt for this season...need to figure out what's next!
