I was up in Denton the past few days and I swam at the University of North Texas pool twice. I only counted once and I was at 14. The more relaxed and balanced I feel, the lower my SPL. I do some basic TI drills (maybe modified) first and that always helps. If you try to swim faster by moving everything faster, you just expend more energy and may not really increase your speed. I did originally start at 24-25 before I started trying to do TI.
