What I've found that works so far (... and I probably don't know more than you!) is to try to do the TI method of anchoring yourself with that arm and not focusing on pulling myself with it. I don't have it down yet but rotating the body to turn up to the air puts the shoulder in a more natural position, at least it feels that way. Not even a twinge lately!
