Good post! I have found that to be true for myself, not only in strength training but in terms of athletic performance, which is why to make sure I can bike or surf or spar at a personally acceptable level I use something like CT's pendulum protocol.

Working "hard," or the perception of working hard, doesn't really mean anything. Sweating, vomiting, and breathing hard could be a good workout or a tropical disease kicking in.-Dan John
