Default My 1st ART session

I had to share this - I just got back from my 1st ART session and it pretty much feels like someone shredded my R. knee, glute, adductors and foot - but in a good way. I went for discomfort in the knee and foot and also to get some advice on my imbalances. (JP and Standapart, you were right that my glute med was not firing properly and it seems to be a big piece of the puzzle with my imbalances.)

Anyway, the session was only for an hour but I got an extra hour for free since the practitioner said she was having fun and was excited to work with me! I learned my left leg is performing nicely but is weak; right leg is strong but only because everything is trying to support its incorrect form. I got some exercises and movements to help things out, along with foam rolling instructions. While some of the info was a repeat of what I've read on this site, it helped to have someone show me some of the rolling techniques and it definitely helped to have someone walk me through the correct form for my funky right leg.

What was crazy about the experience was learning I don't use my right big toe when I walk (who knew?) and also getting mobility back in my foot that I didn't even realize was missing to begin with.

Can't wait to save up for a follow up appointment. All in all, a great experience. (We'll see if my body still feels just as enthusiastic tomorrow...)
