I'm still riding the high from this past weekend - which has stirred up some much needed motivation for me. I was lagging there for a bit.
I have a scheduled off day today, after a long run yesterday, my legs are thanking me. I have a big weekend planned, with a 3 hour day tomorrow (20 minute swim, 2 hour bike, 30 minute run) and then a long swim Sunday.
The next three weeks are the biggest weeks of my training plan, before the taper week and my next tri (Boulder Peak - Oly distance). After Boulder Peak, I have 2 weeks of pretty easy training, and then the big one. And then 2 weeks after the HIM, I have the fun Steamboat Tri. So basically 3 tris in the next 8 weeks. That's how life should be.
So for today, I'll sit in the coffee shop, drink some decaf and get nice and hydrated for my big effort tomorrow. I'm going to experiment a bit tonight with a nutrition tidbit I picked up. Basically, drink as much water as my stomach can hold right before bed. Then, at 2am when I get up to pee, have a massive protein, fruit, and oats shake - that way, I'm full of glycogen when I get up, hammer down a gel, and I'm off for 3 hours. We'll see how it works out...I've got to start working really intensely on my HIM nutrition.
And a little bird is telling me that my training partner and I are researching a bridge Ironman training program for the winter. I hear IM New Zealand is in March, and is a great first Ironman. We're going to research flights, and see if it's realistic this year, but chances are better that in March 2008, I'll be in New Zealand...
