for what it's worth..
I hate wet paper.. and wildeness canoeing we always had to take care of maps.. we'd put them in a transparent plastic bag made for them.. maybe some kind of pen like for the white boards could write on the plastic bag.
but for you..
aren't there small white-boards that are waterproof. you could write the WO in sort-of short-hand in advance just to help the memory.. then jot down the numbers.
