I'm in almost exactly the same position. The answer to questions 1,2,3, and 5 are yes. Dumbells will work fine. As for question 6 I've recently started using the handles on the treadmill as a dip bar. They are sturdy and have worked well.
Another tip. If your dumbells don't have enough weight you can vary you rest and reps to give you more of a work out. You can make all this work you just have to be a little more creative than the next guy.
