Are there specific weight training exercises that are not recommended for a 13 year old (12/04) that has not reached his peak growth period? All exercises are done with a max of three sets and reps. in the 10+ range. He is 5'8" 125 lbs. and is now training for football camp. He has not lifted weights until now so I wanted to ensure that all lifts that he does are safe for his age. As for shoulder work, should we just stick with the basics and eliminate flys? What about back work - are cable rows and barbell rows recommended or should we stick with assited pull ups? THX
