I am the parent of a youth football player...

He has always wanted to play fullback on his teams and does play the position well...but was never one of the "top 5 percent" of kids in the speed department so he would always be moved to center (Last year he was the backup fullback but didn't get onto the field much because the player in front of him was faster (but he wasn't better at the other aspects like blocking and receiving)

Sooo....this offseason Brett decides that he isn't going to be kept on the bench...he wants to be the starting fullback and has been working to achieve that. Since the season ended he has been working with a speed coach 3 times a week.......

But NOW he is running into another problem. He was never out of shape for a 12 year old....but all of the running has actually caused his weight to go DOWN. He is hovering around 127 pounds...which puts him about 20 pounds away from the max weight limit for his midget team (and 7 pounds away from staying at Pee Wee team.

He isn't just thinking about next year....but also High School so he doesn't want to lose weight. What kind of diet should he be on that allows his to still work on his speed but not drop and in fact...gain some weight back?
