I wonder if some of the short term thinking from coaches arrives from pressure from parents/schools for short term results. Also perhaps would some coaches actually be capable of putting together the kinds of workouts you recommend. If you asked the average high school coach to "Develop a movement-based warm-up that incorporates basic elements of global coordination, functional strength and dynamic flexibility." would they even know what you were talking about? Do these people have access to resources to help them with this? For instance in the school system is training provided for the coaches, or are they expected to learn it on their own?
I'm not sure how it is in the US, but to my knowledge in Australia, most youth coaches at a grass roots level are just ex-athletes who might or might not read a book about coaching when they volunteer for the position.
