I'm not sure if white acre peas are local or not, some of the smaller markets have 'em here in cans. Google for pictures, they're small and sorta white/yellowy. Black Eyed peas aren't as common around here but most markets have them in cans. You can buy all of these DRY, but canned are much easier. Don't forget that I live in Western North Carolina, we have all sorts of weird crap here, like creasy greens (which to me are like eating lawn).
The velvetta is a party hit. You're not going to dip one chip in there and walk away, trust me.

I made it for work last year, someone said "cheese and tomatoes? seems healthy to me". Yeah, they don't call it heart attack in a bowl for nothing.
