You could try making it with cottage cheese pureed in a blender until smooth, mixed with an equal amount of yogurt. This is a good dip base. You can add sour cream or mayonnaise, but those will add a lot of calories quickly.

To the base, add a packet of salad dressing mix (Ranch or Italian) to taste. Too much mix will make it too salty. I haven't experimented with other salad dressing mixes, but I imagine any of them will work pretty well. You can also add onion soup mix for a French onion dip.

If you don't want to use a mix packet, you can add chopped herbs, maybe some crumbled bleu or feta cheese.
