The very best thing that it has going for it is that it doesn't really have any competition. The recipies are good, but some are dangeriously simular to others.
Everything is easy to follow with good information simular to what's free on the johns' websites. I've probibly made about 6 or so of the recipies (all of which include easily attainible ingrediants at your local market) and everything turned out great.
Some things that I would have liked to have seen:
-a larger degree of spices used
--spices are cooking to me. it felt like in order to make the recipies more accessible they might have been slightly dumbed down.
-more >period< and a larger variety of dishes
--101 recipies sounds like a lot...but open up your family heirloom betty crocker and you're likely to hit 100+ recipies per section x 12 sections. as someone that cooks a pretty good deal the volume of recipies per use is somewhat light.
All in all it's fantastic for what it is. If you want a guide on foods to eat and ways to prepair them to help follow massive or lean eating...this is your one stop shop. It gives you the bare bones to eat healthy and establish a foundation for a proper athletic diet.
It's just a little light on content for what a "recipie book" should be...especially considering the $30 price tag
